This position applies advanced principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues. The Sr. Lead Marketing Manager conducts long term planning and complex large marketing studies to determine the future direction of the organization.
The EMEA Senior Lead Marketing Manager role will be part of CenturyLink’s Global Accounts Management (GAM) Division. He/she will be responsible for defining go-to-market strategies that drive profitable growth with some of CenturyLink’s largest international customers and supporting the execution of these strategies to deliver measurable results. He/she is responsible for creating, driving and executing vertical- and EMEA-specific marketing plans to increase pipeline and penetration into both “dim and dark prospects” and existing global accounts.
He/she will also serve as an expert in the unique conditions GAM’s sales teams face selling into European customers. This individual will partner with Sales and GAM marketing operations to develop a deep understanding of our customers’ businesses and the industry in which they operate. They will identify customer business problems and sales opportunities by analyzing customer financials, third party research and CenturyLink resources produced by Product Management, Product Marketing and Engineering to develop and refine this expertise. They then will develop go-to-market and account strategies based on this data and drive successful execution of these strategies through Account Based Marketing, vertical-specific and/or other ad hoc programs.
This individual must exhibit the confidence and credibility to be able to effectively challenge and partner with senior Sales, Engineering and Operations leaders(up to VP level), win their respect, and lead them to execute agreed strategies and tactical plans. As a result, this role is one part analysis, one part strategy and one part program management, impacting the performance of some of CenturyLink’s largest and most important accounts.
Forecasts business opportunities and internal responses to ensure continued growth and success of the organization.
Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new principles, processes and applications.
Interfaces with all levels of management negotiating and influencing to build consensus.
Develops and maintains marketing databases involving internally driven or externally derived information sources.
Understands and reacts to the politics inherent in organization structures.
Segments customers into logical groups of similar organizations.
Effectively develops marketing strategies and programs for each of these customer segments that improve Sales ability to drive profitable growth.
Develops Account Based Marketing plans, thought leadership pieces, target lists, value propositions, collateral, campaign content, sales training, battle cards and other sales enablement resources.
Provides vision for industry organization memberships, trade show participation and targeted sponsorships and marketing events.
Understand the unique needs of global enterprise customers in their assigned vertical(s) and design differentiated, technical solutions that meet these needs and drive profitable revenue growth.
Team with the support ecosystem (Marketing Operations, Corporate Marketing, Sales, Product Marketing, Solutions Architecture, Pricing, Operations and Regional Marketing teams - North America, Latin America and EMEA) to create and execute marketing strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, revenue retention and return on marketing investment.
Team closely with individual account teams to design and execute tailored Account Based Marketing (ABM) strategies that enhance CenturyLink’s competitive positioning and drive sales, revenue, customer satisfaction and margin.
Develop insightful, creative, thorough, actionable, effective and measurable ABM plans for assigned accounts; develop these plans according to an agreed delivery schedule.
ABM Plans will include insights in the following areas: industry and vertical focus, operating model, financial performance, SWOT analysis, pain points, investment plans, current information technology spend and resulting share of business, network analysis, competitor analysis, project analysis including priorities, known jeopardies or risks, organizational analysis and identified champion, etc.
The resulting ABM plans will use the previous insights to create a custom-tailored strategy and resulting tactics that the account team and supporting ecosystem coalesce around and pursue throughout the year to continually move the customer relationship forward; he/she will need to effectively partner with that supporting ecosystem to communicate ABM deliverables and secure ecosystem team member commitments to execute against them.
Create and deliver in depth competitive intelligence resources and account insights to Account Teams and provide strategic thought leadership and industry knowledge support for Marketing Operations team.
Program manage the execution of ABM action plans according to documented timelines; program execution should enable Sales teams to sell more broadly and deeply to ABM accounts, to execute more effectively across regions, and leverage current sales to penetrate new product areas.
Partner with GAM Vertical Marketing team and GAM Marketing Operations to ensure successful and impactful execution of ABM tactics.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Background in telecommunications and general familiarity with comprehensive solution set (transport, IP, voice, managed services, etc.)
Critical-thinker and expert problem-solving skills and ability to methodically understand and resolve complex issues
Ability to design technical communications solutions and articulate the business value of these solutions to customers
Must demonstrate the ability to focus ambiguous customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements
Ability to review large amounts of data and quickly identify pertinent and key data points
Good understanding of web analytics and various research methods
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under pressure with tight deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be very detail oriented and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
Strong analytical/quantitative (i.e., Excel), presentation (i.e., PowerPoint) and customer interaction skills are required
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education, and 10+ years of marketing and/or sales experience
Proven record of implementing and executing strategic marketing plans, specific to the vertical needs of this client base
Proven track record of successfully partnering with senior seasoned sales leaders
Experience with developing integrated, multi-touch marketing plans including demand gen and white glove experiences
Self-motivated, innovative, collaborative, multi-tasker, creative and analytical
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Travel up to 20-30%
Bachelors or Equivalent in Marketing
Masters or Equivalent in Marketing
