-Serving as primarily in support of Network Operations by managing customer devices, identifying sources of problems, and resolving configuration issues.

-Directing interfacing with various internal CENTURYLINK groups to resolve clients network and security issues.

Job Requirements -BSCS/EE degree or equivalent of 3-5 years diversified WAN experience.
-Advanced troubleshooting/problem determination skills with Cisco products to include the ability to isolate and resolve end-to-end connectivity issues with CPE router and Telco circuits, coordinating any required testing or dispatch among site, vendor(s), and telcos/LECs.
Knowledge of  HP Network Automation. 
-Knowledge of basic IP routing, routing protocols BGP and EIGRP, MPLS and QOS, VoIP, SNA, DLSw+.
-Familiarity with satellite operations and/or network security concepts is beneficial.
-Experience using trouble ticket tracking system (e.g. Remedy, Peregrine, Action Request System).
-Experience using Network monitoring tools (e.g. Openview, Netview, Netcool).
-Strong verbal communications and listening skills to provide exceptional customer service.
-The determination to increase skills to meet changing customer requirements
-Desire to continually increase technical proficiency (e.g. obtaining CCNA certification) to meet changing customer requirements.

A candidate for this position should be able to work independently, with peers, customers, and supplier teams; to prioritize numerous deliverables on multiple projects; interface directly with all levels of management; and to develop and schedule reports through multiple InfoServers using custom databases. * Perform mathematical and statistical analyses and develop reports concerning the results of certain

* engineering and construction activities to determine the variance to established performance objectives.

* Monitor and control project expenditures, preparing progress reports, defining problems encountered,

* beyond the incumbent’s authority, and provide recommended solutions to management.

* Oversee the installation/construction and testing of plant facilities by making on-site inspections and

* acceptance testing to ensure acceptable system performance.

* Ensure that the documentation reflects the actual plant as-built data by onsite inspection and that it is

* correctly recorded in the CPR.

* Make field visits and contacts to obtain the necessary permits and easements to place plant facilities along

* with preparing and filing the required documents.

* Provide technical assistance and information on pertinent plant issues that affect the region/division operating environment. Communicate results of cost analysis and provide direction on implementation and the network impact related to major plant additions and rearrangements.
Provide assistance to sales and marketing to communicate network functionality, features, strategies and evolutions to major accounts.
Communicate requirements and define the application of materials in the network to obtain the best cost, and maintain professional working relationships with each vendor.
Specify, define and develop plans, requirements and configurations for plant additions to include switching, transport, and access equipment as well as cable and wire additions for assigned discipline. Projects range from a few thousand to several million.
Acquire, define and communicate the criteria associated with plant additions– evaluate and define the options available to obtain the most efficient engineering solution.
The incumbent must possess understanding and vision of the communications industry – stay abreast of industry issues and direction of CenturyLink's executive management - weigh technical attributes to determine and recommend the most appropriate technology/architecture to deploy for any given set of criteria.
Job Requirements

* Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.

* Minimum 3 years telecommunications, engineering, or network planning or equivalent in training and experience.

* Working knowledge of network topologies spanning the switching, access, and transport portions of the network.

* Detailed understanding of digital switching topics such as space division switching, time division switching, blocking probability functions, and multistage switching.

* Working knowledge of next-generation digital loop carrier systems, and analog and digital subscriber carrier.

* In-depth knowledge of ISP/OSP equipment and designs.

* Detailed knowledge of access interface standards specified in Bellcore TR-57, TR008, and TR-303.

* Understand digital transmission topics such as PAM, PCM, Nyquist theorem, line coding, framing techniques, and time division multiplexing.

* Familiar with circuit and packet switching, X.25 and X.75 protocols, IEEE 802.X protocols, OSI reference model, ISDN, frame relay, SONET, and ATM switching.

* Working knowledge of, and the ability to, perform economic analysis including internal rate of return analysis, discounted payback period, net present value, profit index, buy-vs.-lease analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and breakeven analysis.

* Prepare written and oral reports on new services, technologies, and industry issues.

* Valid Driver's License, with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:


* Understand digital transmission topics such as PAM, PCM, Nyquist theorem, line coding, framing techniques, and time division multiplexing.

* Detailed knowledge of the SS7 protocol, CCS network architecture, trunk signaling, and transaction processing requirements as specified in Bellcore TR-394 and TR-317; the function of the LIDB service; and operation of the 800 database service.

* Detailed knowledge of the Advanced Intelligent Network, requirements for deploying AIN, the AIN call processing models, and AIN network nodes (SCP, STP, SSP, IP, SN, etc).
